Since 2007 I have been practicing yoga. It began as a simple adventure following a friend’s lead to a local yoga studio. Every couple weeks we would go to a class and my interest would grow like a sprout reaching for the gentle sun. Stories from the instructors about India and magical retreats made my imagination spread into the reality that this is a way of life and not just postures and cute active wear.
YEARS FLEW BY
As I toured in support of my original music I also visited every yoga studio and every type of class I could around the country. Somewhere along the way a deep root began growing and transforming my approach to the present moment. Savasana led me to meditation. Yoga was growing like a beautiful vine around many parts of my life. I started collaborating with yoga instructors by playing music while they taught class. It helped me understand on a deeper level how to feel a group’s energy and let it inspire what is being created musically in the present moment. “The class breathes the music.”
THE OPPORTUNITY OF A LIFETIME
November 2018 I embarked on a journey to Costa Rica for a 3 week yoga certification at Lakshmi Rising School of Yoga & Wellness. My classmates and I were off-the-grid for 21 days in the middle of the jungle studying 200 hours of Vinyasa and Restorative Yoga. I had spent years previous dreaming up the perfect teacher training program and as the universe often does, it delivered big time. We never stop learning, however sometimes we get a chance to grow at an accelerated rate. This was the opportunity of a lifetime, and I was bright-eyed and bushy tailed.
I AM HERE TO PLAY MUSIC & MOVE BODIES
I returned home in December back to life as we Westerners know it. Hustle and flow.. hustle and flow. Music is my main bag baby, however I am finding a way to infuse yoga into this creative life. It’s called Sonic Yoga Integration.
I am here to play music and move bodies. Whether that’s at yoga studios, yoga/music festivals, music venues, my home, or in a park. May we meet ourselves where we are and practice self-care on a daily basis.
Please see my show calendar for festivals where I will be teaching. If you are interested in private instruction, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
